Dinner and Dragons was an idea that started by myself, Jonathan Boucher, after wanting to have something to do after Christmas. It was an excuse to get all of my friends together who play tabletop RPGs in a fun setting to have a meal and play games. With creating this event I made an online public event through Facebook, which led to people I had never met before signing up and coming.
Following our third successful Dinner & Dragons, and our Demogorgons & Dragons event, I realized that we needed to make a greater organization to manage these events. At our largest events, we were able to get 60 players and 14 people aiding in the managing of the event.
My focus throughout these events have been getting my friends together, meeting new people, having good food, playing fun games, and helping our community through raising money for a local charity.
Through growing and learning how we operate, we have been able to expand our work with other organizations to aid them in developing programming with tabletop RPG programming, such as the Autism Resource Centre.
In finding ways to support the engagement of children you might be interested in playing, we have donated tickets to our children's events to Big Brothers & Big Sister of Regina and Area so that their littles can get a chance to try something new that they might end up loving.
We have also been supported with door prizes to our events from local businesses and creators to help us promote their organizations while also supporting us in what we do.
